August-September Updates
Construction on the new Rittmann Center continues to make steady progress. The below-ground structure was completed in mid-September, and work is now focused on the main building’s superstructure, which is expected to be completed in October.
Recent milestones include:
The completion of concrete pouring for the swimming pool area.
Continued construction in the theater area.
The installation of exterior scaffolding on the building’s second floor.
School leaders and members of the project team also visited the site to review a façade mock-up.
The Rittmann Center remains on schedule to open in fall 2027, bringing new spaces for athletics, the arts, wellness, and community life to the Concordia campus.
June-July Updates
The construction company completed excavation work in mid-June. Current work is focused on constructing the interior walls for the basement levels and pool area. The new building is scheduled to open in fall 2027.
February-March 2026 Updates
Retaining walls that protect the current buildings’ foundations were completed in January 2026.
The primary bracing to continue dirt removal was done in early February 2026.
Construction has started again last week. The main construction activity in March and April will be dirt removal. Security personnel are stationed at both the Huang Yang Road and Ming Yue Road gates whenever vehicles enter or exit the site.
Two tower cranes will be installed at the construction site by March 22. For safety purpose, a protective cover is required to be installed on the sidewalk of Mingyue Road. The cover will be constructed around March 21-22. The sidewalk will be temporarily blocked during the construction period.

December 2025-January 2026 Updates
All piling works were successfully completed in December 2025.
A construction access gate on Huang Yang Road was open in December 2025. Security personnel are stationed at both the Huang Yang Road and Ming Yue Road gates whenever vehicles enter or exit the site.
The construction team is currently working on the retaining walls to protect the current buildings when the soil is being removed. The retaining walls should be completed by January 2026. Construction activities will be suspended from February 12 to early March so the workers may return to their hometown for Chinese New Year.
October-November 2025 Updates
Construction progress continues steadily as the team works hard to prepare the site for the major phases of work ahead.
This week, the construction company has been finalizing the setup of all on-site construction offices, which will serve as the coordination hub for the many teams involved in the project.
To help maintain a clean and safe environment, the team has installed dust management sprayers along the perimeter walls to reduce airborne particles and protect both our students and the surrounding neighborhood.
In addition, a truck wash system has been installed at the site exit. Every truck is cleaned before leaving campus to ensure that dirt, dust, and mud are not tracked into the neighborhood — a key step in being a good neighbor during this long-term project.
Finally, test piling work is well underway and moving full speed ahead, with crews working diligently to stay on schedule and maintain safety across the site.
To support safe and orderly access, two security posts will be placed at the construction gate, with staff on duty during vehicle entry and exit. Additional contractor personnel will assist at peak drop-off and pick-up times.

July-September 2025 Updates
As you know, this summer marked an important step forward in Concordia’s reimagining of the Rittmann Center (RC).
During the summer months, the RC was carefully removed, with much of the material recycled in keeping with our commitment to sustainability. Click here to view a time-lapse of the RC coming down over a two-week period. This is a powerful reminder of the progress already made.
Arts and Music classrooms were relocated into the PC building, where new spaces were created to support students and teachers.
A contractor with strong expertise in doing deep foundation work has been engaged to ensure safety for our students and existing buildings as the project moves forward.
The construction site is now being prepared for an expanded team of workers who will soon be onsite. At the same time, we are finalizing permits with local authorities so that full excavation for the new Performing Arts and Aquatics Center can begin.
