Built on Care and Partnership
Parent Connect
Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our recent Parent Connect focused on report cards. It was wonderful to partner with you as we walked through how report cards help tell the story of each student as a learner and learn more about why we use narrative and standards-based reporting. We truly appreciated your openness, engagement, and the thoughtful questions that helped deepen our shared understanding of how this approach supports meaningful learning. If you were unable to join us, the slides are available for you to review at your convenience.
Safety
As part of our ongoing construction project, Concordia continues to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our students, staff, and surrounding community.
To help maintain a clean and safe environment, the construction team has installed dust management sprayers along the perimeter walls to reduce airborne particles and limit dust spread across campus and into neighboring areas. In addition, a truck wash system is now in place at the site exit. Every construction vehicle is cleaned before leaving campus to prevent dirt, dust, or mud from being tracked into the neighborhood.

Inside our buildings, Concordia ensures that indoor air quality remains well below U.S. EPA standards for PM 2.5 and other pollutants through a customized air filtration system. Even when outdoor air quality is poor, these systems help maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for students and staff.
We also closely monitor external air quality throughout the day using our own on-campus monitoring equipment located on the far side of the soccer field. Air quality levels are clearly communicated using color-coded AQI signs posted at division entrances, allowing for transparency and quick decision-making.
Our AQI Guidelines :
🟢 Green (AQI 0–150): All activities proceed as usual.
🟡 Yellow (AQI 151–200): Outdoor activities are modified to limit prolonged exertion. Students with medical notes on file for AQI-sensitive conditions are provided alternate indoor spaces.
🔴 Red (AQI 200+): All outdoor activities, including recess and PE, move indoors.

To make this information even more accessible, we have installed an AQI stoplight display near the soccer field. This visual system helps students, staff, and families quickly understand current air quality conditions and the actions being taken.

Thank you for your continued partnership and trust as we work to ensure Concordia remains a safe, healthy, and caring environment for every child.
Parent Tip of the Week
In Positive Discipline, we often talk about being kind and firm at the same time. Kindness doesn’t mean saying yes to everything. It means responding with respect, even when we hold limits.
This week, try practicing kindness during moments of correction or conflict. Before responding, pause and ask yourself:
“How can I be kind and firm right now?”
For example:
· “I see you’re upset. I won’t let you hit. I’m here to help.”
· “You really want more screen time. It’s hard to stop. The limit is still no.”
When children experience kindness alongside clear boundaries, they feel safe and respected. Over time, they learn that their feelings matter, and that limits are part of caring relationships.
