Kindness in Kindergarten

In August and September, the kindergarten students have been focusing on kindness in many ways. They made a kindness book and a kindness quilt with beautiful drawings and kind words. Students have been practicing saying kind words to each other and showing gratitude and kindness towards their family members, teachers, Ayi’s and guards at our school. We are teaching them that kindness can be shown not only in school, but at home and throughout our community.

Thank you for coming to our Parent Connect!

We are so grateful to all the parents who joined us for our Parent Connect Social! It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces coming together to share, laugh, and connect. The friendships and community you build with one another are a gift that extends far beyond our school walls, and we love being a part of building those relationships. Thank you for investing your time, your energy, and your hearts into our EC community.

Parent Tip of the Week

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been thinking about what it means to look at our children through a self-regulation lens: to become a little more curious about what may be happening underneath the behaviors we see.

This week, I invite you to become a stress detective. We often think of stress as worry or anxiety, but for children, stress can come in many forms: being tired or hungry, managing a big feeling, concentrating on something difficult, navigating a friendship, coping with noise, or simply moving through a very busy day.

All of these experiences use energy. And when a child’s energy is running low, things they can usually do (listen, wait, transition, manage frustration, or solve a problem) can suddenly become much harder.

Try this this week: Pick one ordinary part of your child’s day, for example, getting ready in the morning, coming home from school, dinner, or bedtime, and notice what seems to add to their stress and what seems to restore their energy. You may be surprised by what you notice.

Updates/ Reminders

Playground Update

As we continue to uphold our high safety standards here in the EC Division, we are planning to open the PS/PK playground in October. While our playground continues to be under renovation, we want you to know that getting outside remains a priority for our EC students. We will provide a variety of outdoor opportunities, whether that's through hands-on activities in art, stretching their legs and running on the large field, or simply breathing in the fresh air together. We believe in the power of outdoor play and are committed to making sure our students continue to experience it. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we keep improving our spaces.

Supervision Reminder

We know mornings can be busy, and the temptation to encourage that independent stride down the hallway is real. However, ensuring every child is seen and accounted for is how we keep our entire EC community safe. Please stay with your child until a teacher sees both you and your student. A safe handoff means making eye contact with a teacher so they know your child has arrived and is in their care. Thank you for partnering with us in this. These small moments of connection at drop-off make a big difference for every child's safety and wellbeing.
