Week 17: Highlights
ES New Year's Assembly - Kindess
We were excited to begin the new year and remind our community to IGNITE kindness across our campus. Dr Mizel shared with our students that practicing kindness fills our hearts with joy and makes others feel valued. Kindness is how we continue to build a nurturing environment for all our community members.

ES Parent Connect
We are grateful to all parents who attended the recent Parent Connect this week. We were happy to answer your questions and provide important information to help you learn more about our programs and how we provide a holistic education for our ES students.

G1 Visits the Shanghai Municipal History Museum
Grade 1 went on a field trip to the Shanghai Municipal History Museum as part of their Living History unit. Students explored the city’s past at their own pace, moving through different exhibits and seeing how people lived long ago. They were fascinated by everyday items such as baby holders, cooking tools, and household objects, and enjoyed imagining life in historical Shanghai. Another popular stop was the transportation displays, where students learned how vehicles, boats, and public transportation evolved over time. These experiences helped students connect their classroom learning to real-life examples of how life in Shanghai has changed over time.

G2 Visits the Zotter Chocolate Factory
Our Grade 2 students enjoyed a delightful and educational field trip to the Zotter Chocolate Factory, where learning truly came to life! During the visit, students discovered how raw cocoa beans are transformed into chocolate, making meaningful connections to our Science unit on Properties of Matter as they observed physical changes firsthand. The children also had great fun decorating their own chocolates, adding a creative and memorable touch to the experience.
In addition, students learned more about our Social Studies unit on Fair Trade. They learned how ethical sourcing supports farmers and communities around the world. This engaging field trip helped students connect Science and Social Studies while they learned about making responsible consumer choices in a real-world and delicious way!
