Week 19: Highlights
G5 Participats in a Lantern Making Workshop
On January 15, Grade 5 Chinese Language and Literature Adv. classes took part in a special lantern-making workshop led by intangible cultural heritage masters, specially arranged by the Jinqiao Administration Bureau. During the workshop, students learned about the stories and traditions behind lantern art, explored the differences between northern and southern styles, and watched the masters demonstrate classic techniques. With great focus and excitement, students then designed and assembled their own lanterns, bringing their ideas to life step by step. Our Mandarin teachers, Ms. Ou, Ms. Yu, and Ms. Wang, worked alongside the students throughout the session, offering guidance and encouragement. By the end of the workshop, students proudly completed nine lantern works, all of which will be displayed at the 2026 Jinqiao Lantern Festival. Thanks to this wonderful home–school collaboration, a total of 21 lantern works, from both student workshops and family submissions, have been selected to represent Concordia in the upcoming Jinqiao Lantern Festival.
A big thank you to all our students, teachers, and families for making this experience so warm and memorable. Moments like these remind us how creativity and culture can bring our community together.
