VEX V5 Robotics

On Saturday, October 10, seven Concordia robotics teams participated in their first scrimmage of the season at Dulwich Shanghai. Five of our seven teams advanced to the elimination rounds, with Team 13212D, Six Seven MEOW, earning first place and Team 13212C, Cookies and Cream, finishing second. Six Seven MEOW is the same team that earned third place in Skills at the VEX Robotics World Championship in St. Louis last year. While these results are worth celebrating, the real value of the scrimmage was the opportunity for students to put their initial designs to the test. For some, this was their first experience seeing a robot they had designed and built compete against others. The day was filled with adjustments, unexpected challenges, and moments of satisfaction as students saw their ideas come to life. Winning and losing were only part of a larger learning experience that required patience, perseverance, problem-solving, and the willingness to learn from failure. We are proud of all seven teams and appreciate the ingenuity, grit, and dedication our students demonstrated throughout the event. It was a promising start to the season and an opportunity for every team to identify what they can improve as they prepare for future competitions.

HS Tennis SISAC

Our tennis team took part in the SISAC tournament this past Saturday at BISS in Shanghai, where we fielded 11 singles players and two doubles teams. Three of our singles players advanced to the quarterfinals, and one doubles pairing finished in third place. Although the use of a super-tiebreak-to-10 format didn’t reflect in high quality tennis, the day still provided valuable match experience for the group.

Gr. 7-8 Table Tennis SISAC

Eight of our Grade 7–8 students took part in the Grade 7‑8 SISAC Table Tennis friendly tournament on October 10. It was a fantastic day of friendly competition! Our student athletes demonstrated wonderful sportsmanship throughout every match. They cheered each other on, respected their opponents, and focused on enjoying the game rather than chasing rankings. We were delighted to see our students proudly represent our school and build connections with players from other schools.

Gr. 5-6 Table Tennis SISAC

On October 10, Joy C., Jacob H., Thibault L., Elroy Z., and Matthew Z. represented Concordia at the SISAC Table Tennis event at SAS Puxi. The first round of matches determined which level each player would compete in for the second round. Concordia had a strong showing, with three players placing in the top 10. Throughout the event, the students represented Concordia well. After each match, they shook hands with their opponents and showed respect by acknowledging good plays and fair competition. It was great to see them compete hard while still showing good sportsmanship. All five players enjoyed the competitiveness of the matches and had a positive experience representing Concordia. Go Pheonix!

Cross Country SISAC & APAC

It was an exciting and busy week for Concordia Cross Country, with two end-of-season competitions! On Saturday, our junior varsity runners competed in SISAC, hosted by Shanghai Singapore International School. Two of our high school boys earned spots on the podium, with James L. finishing 2nd overall and Oscar H. placing 3rd. Concordia High School also earned 2nd place overall in the combined team standings! From Sunday through Tuesday, Concordia proudly hosted APAC Cross Country, culminating in an exciting day of relay races on campus, with our Concordia community cheering loudly for the athletes. APAC recognizes the top 10 individual finishers in both the boys' and girls' races, and we were thrilled to see Sally Z. place 6th for the girls and Miracle Z. finish 5th for the boys. Our boys' team also earned 3rd place overall and took 2nd place in the 4 × 1 km relay! Across both competitions, our varsity and junior varsity runners demonstrated tremendous determination and resilience, with many achieving their best performances of the season. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, team spirit, and accomplishments. What a fantastic way to finish the season!

MS Cross Country SISAC

This past weekend, our middle school cross country team competed in a challenging 4K race at Sun Island Resort in Shanghai. With 169 runners competing, both the girls and boys rose to the challenge, pushing themselves through a tough course and delivering strong performances. Their hard work paid off as the team earned 3rd place in the SISAC event, with Ben T. securing an impressive 3rd-place individual finish. We are incredibly proud of our runners for demonstrating such perseverance, determination, and grit throughout the race!
