Thriving in the Age of AI: Insights from Professor Po-Shen Loh
On January 6th, Professor Po-Shen Loh led a K–12 parent session focused on empowering the next generation to thrive in the age of AI. Drawing on his experience as a mathematician, educator, and real-world problem solver, he shared insights into how artificial intelligence is reshaping education and the future workforce. Professor Loh emphasized that as AI continues to advance, students will be best prepared by cultivating uniquely human strengths such as creativity, empathy, and critical thinking. He encouraged parents and educators to rethink traditional approaches to learning, highlighting the importance of adaptability and lifelong learning in an increasingly automated world. Most importantly, he underscored that the greatest value students can offer in the age of AI lies in their ability to think independently, achieve genuine understanding, and create work that delights and connects with others—qualities that no technology can truly replace.
