I want to extend a warm welcome to all of our returning families and to those joining the Concordia High School community for the first time. There is a great deal to be excited about this year.

Our High School continues to offer a strong academic program alongside many meaningful opportunities for our students to contribute and grow holistically. 

One of the things I value most about our High School is that we are preparing students not only for college, but also for life. Academic achievement absolutely matters, but so do independence, resilience, communication, healthy decision-making, relationships, and the ability to advocate for oneself. High school is an important time for students to practice these skills while surrounded by adults who know them, care about them, and are ready to support them. 

For parents, this sometimes means allowing your child to take the first step. When a question or concern arises, we encourage students to begin by talking directly with their teacher, counselor, coach, or other appropriate adult. Rather than immediately stepping in on their behalf, consider how you might coach your child to navigate the situation and build confidence and independence. When additional support is needed, we hope parents will come alongside their child and partner with the school, modeling respectful communication and advocacy. Our best work happens when students, parents, and the school work together while keeping the student at the center. 

I also encourage families to help students make the most of High School by getting involved and trying something new, whether through a club, activity, athletics, the arts, service, or simply connecting with new people. These experiences help students discover interests, build relationships, and find a stronger sense of belonging. At home, this is also a good time to establish routines that support balance: consistent sleep, healthy study habits, time away from screens, and space for family, friends, activities, and rest. 

We are fortunate to have talented and caring teachers and staff, strong programs, and a community that genuinely wants students to thrive and is therefore willing to step up and help make their learning journey special. I am confident in what we offer our students and equally excited about the ways we will continue to grow together this year.
