Middle School Drama Field Trip: Matilda the Musical 🎭
By Mr. Danny Hwang, Drama Teacher/Performing Arts Curriculum Lead
Our Middle School Drama students had the incredible opportunity to attend a live performance of "Matilda the Musical", and what an unforgettable experience it was.
From the moment the lights dimmed, our students were completely drawn into the world of Matilda. The energy on stage, the precision of the choreography, and the storytelling through music and movement brought everything we have been exploring in class to life in a powerful way. It was a joy to watch our students not only enjoy the performance, but also engage with it through the lens of young theatre artists.
One of the most impactful takeaways from the afternoon was realizing that many of the performers on stage were not much older, and in some cases, even younger than our own students. That realization sparked something special. It allowed our students to see what is possible, to imagine themselves in those roles, and to begin dreaming about standing on stages like that in the future.
Experiences like this go far beyond entertainment. They build inspiration, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the craft. They remind our students that theatre is not just something we study in the classroom, it is something they can be a part of, now and in the years to come.
We are so proud of our students for representing our drama program so well, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share meaningful experiences like this together as a community.
Here’s to continuing to dream boldly, perform bravely, and bring stories to life. 🎭
