Chinese New Year: Culture in Action
To celebrate the Lunar New Year, G7/8 Chinese Language and Literature students immersed themselves in the traditional art of lantern riddles. After studying the history and mechanics of the craft, students applied their knowledge of Chinese characters and history to write their own clever puzzles. The activity wrapped up with a competitive solving race, successfully merging cultural heritage with critical thinking and linguistic creativity.
Meanwhile, students from other levels were equally engaged in cultural festivities, exploring the art of Chinese calligraphy. By mastering traditional brushwork to create their own decorative scrolls, they deepened their aesthetic understanding of the language. Together, these activities offered a comprehensive celebration of the festival through both intellectual wit and artistic expression.
