A Warm Welcome Back from the EC Principal

Greetings, Early Childhood Families!
What a week it has been; full of reconnections, new beginnings, and learning new routines for both students and adults. We shared many smiles and laughter during our First Day of School and our Successful Start, and even a few tears—completely normal for this time of year. I was so encouraged to see our Teachers and Teaching Assistants engaging our youngest learners in such meaningful and enriching experiences.
This year, we are excited to welcome Mrs. Monica Albertini as our new EC/ES Counselor! Monica brings a wealth of expertise in developing pro-social behaviors and conflict resolution with a deep commitment to supporting both students and families. She is looking forward to partnering in ways that nurture growth, strengthen relationships, and creates a positive, connected school community.
At Concordia, relationships are the cornerstone of our community. We believe that when schools and families work together, students succeed. This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with your Parent Support Organization (PSO) representatives. The PSO has some wonderful events planned for this year, and I encourage you to get involved in whatever way you can. I will be meeting with them regularly to ensure we continue building this strong partnership.
At home, I encourage you to ask your child about their school experiences. Perhaps you could ask them to draw pictures of their favorite moments or their new friends. As they share their stories with you, consider writing down what they say on the picture, helping them connect words with visual images. Making time to read age-appropriate stories together—whether in your home language or English—before bed is a wonderful routine to establish. This shared reading builds strong pre-literacy and literacy skills, laying the foundation for future reading success.
It is both an honor and a pleasure to serve as the Early Childhood Principal here at Concordia in partnership with you.
I look forward to seeing you and your wonderful children in the weeks ahead!
Warm regards,
Shannon Keane
