Color of Kindness
This Friday, February 27th, was our Themed Dress Day and to celebrate, we set up a special space on the table across from the EC office, where parents, grandparents, and children to leave a kind word, a short message, or even a small drawing. This will continue to be displayed into next week, so feel free to stop by whenever you have a moment and add your touch of kindness! We can’t wait to see all the beautiful messages come together—thank you for being part of this!
Parent Tip of the Week
This week, we encourage families to help children understand that goodness is not about being perfect. It’s about learning, growing, and making things right when mistakes happen. Every child will face moments when their choices don’t match their best intentions. These moments are valuable opportunities to strengthen responsibility, empathy, and resilience.
Positive Discipline Tool: “Reflect and Repair”
Instead of focusing on blame or punishment, Positive Discipline encourages children to reflect on what happened and consider how they can repair the situation. This helps children connect their actions to their values and build genuine problem-solving skills.
You might try asking:
“What happened, and what were you feeling at the time?”
“Who was affected by this choice?”
“What would be a good way to make things better?”
Support your child in choosing a small, meaningful repair: a sincere apology, helping to fix what was broken, or finding a kind way to reconnect (for example, a drawing or a card). When children receive guidance rather than shame, they begin to see goodness as a lifelong practice of learning from mistakes and striving to do better.
